September 2024 Meeting Updates

We want to thank SRO Officer Mike Roberts and Sgt. Sam Davidson, who are with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, for presenting the trauma response kits to prepare our school's classrooms for emergencies. Please contact them or Felicia Kelsey for more information or if you are interested in helping. You can find Sam and Felicia's contact information in the About section of our website. https://www.fcpctn.org/about-us.

We have launched our new website, making it more user-friendly with added resources and program information. https://www.fcpctn.org/.

We have included this newsletter blog. Please subscribe to receive important prevention information and updates.

Stay tuned for Jessie's weekly prevention update. These weekly messages are shared on WCDT ESPN Radio, social media, and posted on our website's homepage. Please share these videos to help parents learn tips on talking to their kids and teens about the dangers of substance misuse.

The IOAD event and proclamation signing was a success. A memorial wall for loved ones lost and those who are recovering has been placed at the Franklin County Library. Please check it out and remember to celebrate recovery month with us by showing your support.

Bridge and Camp Thrive families enjoyed attending the Trash Panda's baseball game. Linda, our first Bridge kid, was honored with throwing the first pitch of the game.

Felicia Kelsey, Family, and Children's Services Coordinator was the guest speaker at the Franklin County CAB and Kiwanis Club meetings to discuss her program for Drug Endangered Children.

Jessie Sheehan presented at the Franklin County School Board meeting to share what the Prevention Coalition does and how we support children in our school system.

We held a Roundtable meeting with the District Attorney, Judge Stewart, and members of the Sheriff's Dept. and school system to talk about prevention and how to provide better support as we serve our community.

Our youth coalition, Teens Making a New Tomorrow, is working on a positive video campaign at FCHS to encourage prevention with athletes. They are also working on recruiting new members. We currently have 13 members.

We are thankful to be a part of a supportive community that strives to protect the health and well-being of the children and families of Franklin County. Together, we are making an impact.
